About Me

My name is Saya (she/her) and I am an English-speaking BPS & HCPC registered counselling psychologist, psychotherapist and professor of psychology. I have over fifteen years of experience working and training in mental health within a variety of different roles and settings including public, private and charitable sectors. London is where completed a majority of my training, gaining a master from King’s College and a professional doctorate from City University.

I spent many years working for the NHS in London within talking-therapy clinics, as well as in community support teams and crisis teams. Over the years I have developed a passion for working with minority groups of all kinds and have specialised my work in such areas. I am passionate about inclusivity and non-discriminatory practice, aiming to use my work to address unhelpful stigmas around mental health, identity and beyond which still persist in society today and which can have a big impact on mental health. While I grew up and trained in the UK, I am currently based in Barcelona where I have been living for the last six years. I work in private practice offering psychotherapy to adults experiencing all kinds of psychological difficulties from common daily stressors to more complex and longer-term difficulties. My office is located in Eixample, central Barcelona within a team of other psychotherapists and mental health professionals.

For the last six years I have also been teaching psychology at undergraduate level within various study abroad campuses in Barcelona, as well as guest lecturing at various academic institutions. Taught courses include Abnormal Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, Cognitive Psychology and Social Psychology. Student mental health, particularly of those studying abroad is something I consider and incorporate into my teaching methods. My primary goal as a professor is to support students’ ability to think critically about the content they are taught and the world around them.
